I moved here a year ago after living in an apartment for 8 years whose landlord was a huge slumlord.I finally had enough and decided to move.

I moved to Waterford at Summit View in Hummelstown Pa mainly bc it’s listed as “affordable living “ and I am disabled with children so my income is low. I explained my troubles with my slumlord to the leasing person and she assured me that they were a great company and maintenance and staff are wonderful. Looking back I should have read the MANY bad reviews on this apartment complex but hindsight is a b****. 2 days after I moved in I submitted a written list of things that needed repaired, as there were a lot of problems I found as soon as I moved in.

Not to mention the apartment was filthy. Long story short, after months of asking over and over why these things were not being fixed, it took them 9 months to get these things done and until today (a year and 2 months later) there are still some outstanding things that need done that haven’t been. I’ve heard every excuse in the book as well as just being plain out ignored. I’ve never been late with rent.

I was never late in the 8 years I was at my old apartment with former slumlord. I uphold all aspects of the lease but this apartment complex does not uphold their responsibilities of their own lease! I’ve contacted fair housing and they’re a joke as well. The apartment complex itself is filthy and looks like a dump in most areas with trash, etc everywhere.

The ppl who live here do not have any pride in how they live and are slobs. Not all but ALOT of them. I’m a very clean person so this disgusts me. One of the responsibilities of the management of the complex is to keep it clean.

They don’t. The view from my balcony is a wooded area and looks like a city dump. I’ve seen some of the residents here just toss full bags of trash off their porch or balcony, instead of taking them to the dumpster. There are anywhere from one to 10+ bags of trash next to the dumpsters and this is also when the dumpsters are completely EMPTY!

I’ve tried for a year now to contact the property management company, Kettler, and they literally do not answer the phones or return voicemails or emails, so I can’t even talk to the owners about the management on the property. The staff is rude and just blows ppl off and are just incompetent. Needless to say I am now in another apartment run by slumlords. Most ppl would say to just move but I wouldn’t live here if I could afford something else.

Again, it’s “affordable living” yet I can barely afford it. My rent is $881. , so it’s not “low income” but lower than market rate. I shouldn’t have to move either!

The management should be upholding their end of the lease and treating ppl with respect and dignity and do their damn job! If I didn’t pay my rent I’d be evicted but nothing happens when they don’t do theirs. I’m depressed every day and have severe anxiety due to living here and having to deal with all of this. I wish I could afford to move but the only other places I could afford are in dangerous neighborhoods with dangerous and horrible school districts.

I will not put my kids in that situation bc that’s how I grew up, in Philadelphia. I want better for them. Again, I shouldn’t have to settle for that. The property management here should do their job!

Photos are just a taste of the trash on the property, also the snow is covering a lot of the trash. This is behind my apartment
